Dr Evan Schuch grew up in Wales and completed his MBBCH through Cardiff University in 2007. He worked in England and New Zealand before moving to Australia seeking both advanced medical training and a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. The sense of community, the outdoor culture, and the genuine warmth of the people made Albury–Wodonga feel like home almost immediately and Evan joined CMG in 2014, gained his RACGP fellowship and became a Practice Principal in 2015.
What excites him most about general practice is its extraordinary breadth. No two days are ever the same, the combination of broad clinical knowledge and problem solving, preventative health, and whole person care brings variety and joy to the job. His clinical interests lie in adolescent and men’s health, sports related medicine and travel medicine.
Evan is the Medical Director of Training at CMG, where he works alongside a dedicated team of clinical supervisors committed to developing the next generation of GPs. They provide training across all levels — from medical students, hospital doctors transitioning into general practice and GP trainees from all training programs. This work is centred in our Alison Green Training Centre, a purpose built, 100% supervisor led teaching facility designed to support, educate, and expand the clinical skills of all GP registrars.
In addition to his clinical and supervisory roles, he has an ongoing career in medical education through his work with the RACGP, contributing to the development of high-quality training for future general practitioners.
Outside of medicine, Evan has a keen interest in ultramarathons, endurance running, and—when time allows—triathlons. Some of his proudest achievements include completing a 100 km ultramarathon, multiple 50 km events, and two Ironman 70.3 races. These challenges have shaped not only his approach to health and performance, but also his appreciation for discipline, resilience, and incremental progress.
Running and strength/HIT training are his focus, and the insights he has gained through years of endurance sport strongly influence the way he supports and motivate others.
